Angel joins Neighborhood Partnerships with seven years of experience in the nonprofit sector, having served as a donation coordinator, outreach coordinator, and communications manager. He relocated from Los Angeles to the PNW in January 2025 and is excited to begin this new chapter.

For starters, tell us a little about yourself.
I am a DACA recipient who was brought to the U.S. as a baby. Los Angeles is all I’ve ever known, and it’s where I learned the value of community, how to connect with people, how to create art using different media platforms, and most importantly, how to dodge potholes. I am a proud husband and a father of two amazing boys. They are the fuel to my drive in anything I do.

What does opportunity mean to you?
Opportunity is perspective based. For me, it means creating equity. It’s about leveling the playing field for those who haven’t always had access to specific resources or the advantages that others were presented. As a DACA recipient, I’ve had to face barriers that others didn’t. I had to face anxieties that others didn’t. I am in this field of work to hopefully shift those dynamics for others and to lessen the load they must carry.

What difference can financial security make for individuals in communities?
Financial security can change a person’s way of life entirely. From not having to stress about meeting necessities such as food, rent, or healthcare, or giving them the time and space to invest in their families, communities, or personal aspirations. It is the difference between just surviving and thriving.

What are you looking forward to most about this position?
As mentioned before, I just want to know that I am contributing to a change in how systemic racism in our country has upheld inequity for our communities. This position allows me to play a part of real change that directly supports and allows individuals to reach goals that may have been viewed as unreachable in the past.

    What’s your favorite quote?
“It’s a good day to have a good day.”
