August 9th Block Party brings together 20 grassroots organizations for a community-driven celebration
Traditional nonprofit fundraising often mirrors the same inequitable systems we’re working to change. Competition over collaboration, gatekeeping over accessibility, charity over solidarity.
AMPLIFY PDX represents a different approach that aligns with our vision of an equitable economy where opportunity and prosperity are widely shared.

This community-driven fundraiser brings together 20 local grassroots organizations in the spirit of coalition building. Together, we’re pooling our voices, platforms, and resources to demonstrate what cross-sector partnership looks like in action.
Rather than asking for charity from above, we’re inviting Portlanders to invest in movements that are community-led, justice-driven, and rooted in the lived experiences of those most affected by economic inequality.
“AMPLIFY is about reclaiming joy and building solidarity,” says Stephanie Roberson of The UPRISE Collective. “We’re not just surviving—we’re celebrating the work and the people who keep the vision alive.”

Why Collective Action Matters
Unlike traditional fundraising events where organizations compete for attention and resources, AMPLIFY PDX centers equity, abundance, and shared power—values at the heart of creating an equitable economy.
This approach reflects the Community-Centric Fundraising (CCF) model that:
- Prioritizes community needs over donor recognition
- Builds cross-organizational trust and shared strategy
- Redistributes resources equitably, especially to BIPOC-led, LGBTQIA2S+, youth-driven, and immigrant-serving organizations
- Rejects scarcity thinking, replacing competition with collaboration and mutual support
“AMPLIFY makes the most of our intention to connect across causes and broadcast our vision for the future of Portland—together,” says Courtney Rae of Open Signal.
