Back in January, when political chaos had many feeling isolated and uncertain, we said, ‘our power to shape a better future comes from working together as a community.’ We still know this is the key to building power and combating those feelings of atomization that have become so fundamental that the previous Surgeon General declared our country to be suffering from an epidemic of loneliness.
The right of free assembly is one of the bedrock values of our country, enshrined in the Bill of Rights. Despite how atomized and individualized our society has become, at our core, we still hold up the power of community gatherings. From protests to mutual aid to faith service groups, we work together to address the problems that we face. At Neighborhood Partnerships, this value has always been a core part of our work as well. Partnership, working in coalition, is fundamental to everything we do.
This value is part of what made us excited to make the move to the Center for Social Justice, a co-working space specifically for organizations working for a more just future. Now, we’re excited to activate this new space as a hub for our community to gather.
We’d love for you to join us on October 2nd to take another chance to celebrate our connection and collective power. You’ll get to see our new home, mingle with our staff, and once again have the chance to connect with other members of our big tent of partnerships whom you might not already know.
We’ll provide the snacks and drinks; you just need to show up, open to possibilities.
We hope to see you there!
