Dear Friend of Neighborhood Partnerships:
Voting is an incredibly important part of our responsibilities and privileges as citizens of this country. At Neighborhood Partnerships, we take this responsibility very seriously. Our Board of Directors has endorsed three positions on measures that are currently before Oregon voters in this election.
We urge all of our supporters, donors, and partners to carefully consider the measures and candidates on this November’s ballot, and to please vote before Tuesday, November 6 at 8 pm. Find the nearest ballot drop off location.
Vote YES for Affordable Housing!
Vote Yes for Affordable Housing, and Vote Yes on Measures 102 and 26-199
Neighborhood Partnerships believes all Oregonians need a safe, stable, and affordable place to call home. That’s why we’ve endorsed the Yes for Affordable Housing campaign, and are encouraging our partners and supporters to vote YES twice for affordable housing this fall!
All Oregonians will get a chance to vote yes on Measure 102, a constitutional amendment which will give local jurisdictions flexibility when issuing bonds for affordable housing. If local communities ask voters to approve bonds for affordable housing, they would be able to partner with affordable housing developers, and use other funds like federal tax credits to build more affordable homes. Residents of the Portland metro area will get to vote yes on Measure 26-199, a housing bond which will build needed safe, stable, and affordable places to call home for members of our community. Together, these two measures will create safe, stable, and affordable homes for 12,000 Oregonians once the homes are built, and more over the life of these homes that will be permanently affordable.
We are proud to support these measures, and encourage you to vote YES twice for affordable housing this November! We also invite you to join us to spread the word about these important measures at our phone bank, hosted by NP, on Sunday, November 4th from 5:30 – 8:30 pm. Sign up here.
Vote to Protect our Neighbors
Vote No on Measure 105
At Neighborhood Partnerships, we believe every Oregonian deserves opportunity, respect, and safety, no matter where they come from or what their skin color. At Neighborhood Partnerships, we believe in welcoming our neighbors, building bridges of understanding, and treating others as one would hope to be treated. We believe diversity makes us stronger.
In Oregon, our strength comes from our ability to work together— to bring together a landscape of people from different places and of different races into one nation.
For these reasons, we are opposing Measure 105, which would throw out Oregon’s anti-racial profiling law. The group behind Measure 105 does not share our values. We know that we are all harmed when we villainize and de-humanize our neighbors and co-workers and create division within our communities.
Immigrants in Oregon are our neighbors, friends, local business owners and community members and leaders. We won’t stand by while immigrants or any Oregonians could be targeted because of their perceived immigration status.
