Neighborhood Partnerships is convening a meeting on Thursday, October 31st to discuss what’s happening around asset building in Oregon. The meeting will include discussions of proposals coming forward to the 2014 and 2015 Legislative session, as well as discussions about what was passed in the 2013 session and is now being implemented. In addition, we will discuss local efforts moving forward. We will also get an update on Bank On Oregon efforts. This meeting will be held from 10 a.m. to Noon.
We will use the CFED Household Financial Security Framework as a starting point, and will discuss a range of proposals across the Learn-Earn-Save-Invest-Protect framework. If you have a proposal you are working on that you would like to share with the group or an update of your work, please email Alison.
If you work in asset building, you might also consider attending our messaging debrief later that afternoon. Neighborhood Partnerships recently conducted a poll on how to better communicate about asset building issues. We will conduct a fast-paced, easy to incorporate tutorial on using these effective asset building messages later that same day, Thursday, October 31st, from 1:00 – 2:30 p.m. Questions? Email Alison.
Both events will be held at on Thursday, October 31st at First United Methodist Church, 1838 SW Jefferson, Room 202, Portland OR 97201.
The asset building convening will take place from 10 a.m. to Noon, and the messaging debrief is from 1 p.m. to 2:30. You’re welcome to bring a brown bag lunch and stay with us during the break. There are also lunch options nearby!
